The teaching of Geometry: interview with teacher Regina Maria Pavanello

Abstract

This text presents an interview with the researcher and teacher Regina Maria Pavanello, who is a reference in Geometry Teaching. The objective is to highlight and record the vast influence of the said teacher on members of the community related to Mathematics Education in Brazil, mainly in Paraná, and in particular to research in the field of Geometry. The text begins with an introduction and a brief presentation by the teacher, followed by the transcription of the interview, which was based on a semi-structured proposal and took place remotely through the Google Meet platform. Topics were addressed regarding the teacher's performance with regard to Mathematics Education and Geometry Teaching. In her report, Professor Regina highlighted, among other factors, the importance of strengthening the initial and continuing education of Mathematics teachers, and the need for constant struggle to enhance the teaching career.
